Lay Pastoral Ministries

  • The Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee is a group of nine parishioners from both All Saints’ Church and St. Georges Chapel who meet quarterly to identify, review, and select local, regional and international charitable organizations to receive donations from the profits of the parish thrift shops. The review process allows the committee the opportunity to educate and provide support for diverse needs of vulnerable communities and individuals. Special programs are recognized during Lent. Educational materials about the selected organizations are made available to the parish as a whole. Most often these programs are international in nature and focus most often on children and refugee communities throughout the world. The committee also identifies the organizations to serve as recipients of “Bucket Sunday” donations each month. We welcome ideas for new designations and new members as well. Contact Ann Ameigh (afya@aol.com).

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our prayer shawl ministry handmakes over 50 shawls per year, each given with our prayers to people needing encouragement and healing during life's more intense events.

Since 2005 we have made and delivered almost 1,000 shawls. In addition to our family, friends and neighbors, our shawls continue to make their way to the mental health room of the Hub of Hope, an engagement center for people who are unhoused in Philadelphia.

For a shawl or additional information, please contact Aprile Incitti (302 227-7202) or Deacon Susan (302 542-3603).

  • Mental Health Ministry

Established in 2007, our Mental Health Ministry periodically provides a dinner for residents of the four, 24-hour staffed mental health group homes in Sussex County. Led by Deacon Susan Phillips, the dinners are held in the St. George’s Parish Hall. Members of the parish make the meal and join our guests in camaraderie. Announcements of upcoming dinners appear in the weekly bulletin and in the calendar.

If interested in supporting this ministry, contact Deacon Susan Phillips (302 542-3603).

  • GriefShare

GriefShare supports people during the challenging time of the death of a loved one. Through this 13-week group, participants discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. GriefShare sessions are posted on parish calendar, and people can join at any point during the cycle.

If interested in becoming a GriefShare leader or participating in a group, contact Joe Antisavage (shawnee66grad@gmail.com).

  • Stephen Ministries

Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people who are experiencing life difficulties. These ministers are deeply trained to support people through times of personal pain and crisis.

If you are interested in learning more about Stephen Ministry, contact Helen Hoart (hhoart@gmail.com).

  • Intercessory Prayer

In Intercessory Prayer, members of the parish pray intently on behalf of others. All requests for prayer are confidential.

If you would like to request an intercessory prayer from the Intercessory Prayer Group, please contact Irene Olson at 301-881-4684 or email her at: dkolson@verizon.net.

  • Lay Eucharist Visitors

Lay Eucharistic Visitors reach out to those unable to attend Church and offer Holy Communion and personal connection to our parish family. Eucharistic Visitors are commissioned as "Christ-bearers" to connect those whom they are visiting not only with the corporate Body of Christ, the Church, and our local parish, but also the whole Communion of Saints, past, present, and to come.

If you would like to explore this ministry, please contact Mother Judy, and she will gladly meet with you to discern this blessed call to minister to others in Christ's name. Mother Judy may be reached at  revjudy@allsaintsandstgeorges.org.
