Parish Thrift Shops

Our parish thrift shops contribute significant funds to dozens of community service organizations and provide an inexpensive shopping venue for our neighbors.

Our hours:

Monday through Friday
10 am to 4 pm

Saturday
9 am to 3 pm

Donations

Parish Thrift Shop @ Midway is accepting all donations for the thrift shops. Bring donations around to the back of the store on Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00pm. Tax forms are only given out during these hours and in the donations area at the back of the store. Donations are not accepted in the front of the store.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of our thrift shops and are always needed and welcomed.

If you are looking for a place to help our community and make new friends, consider volunteering at Parish Thrift Shops. Volunteers work at least one (3) hour shift per week. Each month twenty volunteers are chosen from the two store locations to donate money to a charity of their choice.

“I was amazed at how much fun it is to work at the Thrift Shop and how I felt such a spirit of friendship when I’m there.”

- Thrift Shop volunteer

The passion and commitment of volunteers and staff build social connections, bonds and a caring community of goodwill and support for life’s challenges that we all experience. If you are interested in volunteering, send an email to the parish office and we will be in touch (thriftinfo@allsaintsandstgeorges.org).

Impact

The two Thrift Shops distribute over $200,000 a year to nearly 100 community service organizations and causes. Past and current receipients include:

  • Community Resource Center, Rehoboth Beach
  • Several homeless organizations, including Shepard’s Office, Code Purple Men’s and Women’s Shelters
  • Animal organizations, including Brandywine Valley SPCA and Humane Animal Partners, Delaware
  • Parish Outreach Committee initiatives
  • Rector's Discretionary Fund

The Thrift Stores have a solid partnership with the Community Resource Center (CRC) in Rehoboth Beach that supports their clients with clothing, furniture, or other items needed for starting over. We also support targeted programs offered by CRC which include the Food Resource Center, Baby Pantry, and Scholarships.

And – as part of our mission – the thrift stores provide job development and work experience for youth with special needs. The Thrift Shops collaborate with the Cape Henlopen High School special needs program and Autism Delaware to provide opportunities for students in the stores. Joanna Carty, Director of Thrift Ministries, received the 2024 Jason Anderson Employer of the Year Award from Delaware Autism for support of the autistic community on behalf of Parish Thrift Shops.

Parish Thrift Shop is a Ministry of the Parish that touches the lives of our volunteers, staff and the community.

Coming soon! Harbeson location.

Coming This Spring!

We are excited to announce our new Thrift Store in Harbeson, DE. The new store will open in the Spring after needed renovations. It is located in the former Old Wood Delaware property on Rt. 9 and replaces Forgotten Mile location, which is slated for redevelopment.

That area of Route 9 is growing and gives the Parish a wider geographic reach, as well as being within the service area of St. George’s Chapel in Harbeson. Stay tuned!
